Güéjar Sierra has celebrated the VIII Cultural andalusian week to remember its ancient time with cultural and gastronomic activities.
This year the Cultural andalusian Week has reached its eighth edition with a very educational character. This initiative was born to promote Spanish-muslim history and traditions with a program full with activities. “Andalusian legacy has been a gift to Güéjar Sierra and we pretend to continue with this piece of history still living on elements like cuisine and architecture”, culture city councilwoman Sonia Fernández, has said.
About 60 people have taken part in the culture visit to the Alhambra, a familiar and funny travel in which Palacios Nazaríes, Generalife and the Alcazaba have been visited. The cultural visite Granada Secreta has been successful as well.
Exhibition “La Granada de Lewis” showed a complete collection of 20th century engraved papers in the cultural center, where the book “Acróbatas” written by Ugo Mellone, was launched including spectacular photographs of Spanish Ibex taken.
Besides, Culture Center took in the Workshop of book engraving as well as a conference about the value of the water organized by Ciempiés. Children’s activities took place in the local library like storytelling about Güéjar and its history and the puppetry workshop.
One of the most beautiful activity of thw week was the historical recreation based on the Duke San Pedro de Galatino’s time in charge of the students of CEIP Sierra Nevada. These pupils turned the Route of the tram into a return to the past in which children told the
The talk about ancestral farming was very interesting becouse people were talking about origin and use of the ancient seeds while banner and medieval shield workshop allow people to know how to make them.
In Plaza Mayor was placed the Andalusi market, containing abour 20 stands full of handmade products. In the same square Saladillas and handmade cheese workshops were celebrated making two of the best food in the locality.
Falconry exhibition along with archery, a clay workshop and a theatrical route conclude the programm in which music as been present too with the V Festival Municipal de Música y danza and the musical concerts with Bennu Cover Band and The Happy Fish.

Children have been important too in this programme. They have enjoyed, learned and laughed with the puppet show.
