For more tan 40 years the tramway that joined Sierra Nevada with the capital hasn’t existed, but for this reason the municipality of Güéjar Sierra is willing to use this network of tunnels and landscapes and was therefore reconstructed to become one of the hiking trails known as greenway, there are only two routes of this type in the province.
The route passes through the municipality of Güéjar Sierra as a hiking route, running through the very heart of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park.
Starting from the reservoir of canals and arriving at Güéjar Sierra, we find restaurants that are located in the old stations of the tram itself such as the unique building of “La Fabriquilla” or “El Maitena”.
Enjoy an accessible route not only for families, but also for people with reduced mobility. This route has been declared green by the Spanish Railways Foundation.
In addition we can offer the possibility of experiencing the route in a more theatrical way.
Rest and replenish in one of the different restaurants that are along the route, where you can eat authentic and traditional güejareña food.
